describe project

Precipitated Silica is a form of artificial silica, produced through the process of precipitation of solutions containing silicate compounds.

1.Production process of precipitated silica
Precipitated silica is typically created by reacting sodium silicate (Na₂SiO₃) with strong acid (usually sulfuric acid - H₂SO₄) in the aqueous environment

General Reaction: Na₂SiO₃ + H₂SO₄ → SiO₂↓ + Na₂SO₄ + H₂O

Silica Powder forms as small particles, suspended in water, and then gradually precipitated

2.Characteristics of Precipitated Silica
- White powder form.
-  Large surface area (porous, amorphous)
-  Insoluble in water and almost organic solvents
- Good absorption properties.

3.Applications of precipitated silica
- In rubber industry: as a filler to increase durability, and wear resistance.
-  In pharmaceuticals and food: as anti-caking agent.
- In animal feed: as vitamin carrier in premix products
- In the printing ink industry: filler, anti-caking, anti-sediment in water-based ink
- In glass industry: for borosilicate glass, helps increase melting temperature and glass durability
- For ceramics industry: increase heat resistance and durability

HUST MEN JSC currently supplies over 50 different grades of precipitated silica for production industries such as: rubber, premix products, cosmetics, etc. For more information about the applications of precipitated silica, please read more here.
