Hydrophilic Silica is a type of fumed silica with special affinity for water (hydrophilic) and excellent moisture absorption abilities. It is produced by burning silicon compounds in flames, producing ultra-fine silica particles with large surface areas.
1.Characteristics of hydrophilic fumed silica - Form: fine powder, ultra-light - Large contact surface area: 150 - 380 m²/gram - Characteristics: Ability to absorb and retain water (hydrophilic), forms network in various applications.
2.Scope of Applications - Thickening agents: for paint products, printing inks, adhesives - Anti-caking agent: for powder products, pharmaceuticals, premix products. - Reinforcing fillers: used in silicon rubber products - Cosmetics: light diffusion for cosmetic products, enhancing surface adhesion as a replacement for lead-based products - Moisture-absorbing additive: for seasoning products, and powder products.
Unlike Hydrophobic Fumed Silica, with good water absorption capability and easily dispersed water, Hydrophilic Silica products have more widespread applications than Hydrophobic Fumed Silica.
